About the Exporter: Siruma Coffee
Siruma works to strengthen producers and associations by connecting them directly with specialty coffee clients. The word “Siruma” comes from the Wayuu language and translates to “Heaven” or “Sky.”
Since starting in 2017, Siruma has intentionally built a shared cupping language with the farmers they partner with. Through training and ongoing feedback, producers learn to evaluate their own coffees, understand profile distinctions, and cup for specific score ranges tied to client demand.
In many exporter–producer relationships, farmers lack access to cupping labs and are vulnerable to price manipulation. Siruma addresses this by prioritizing transparency:
- If a lot contracted as 84+ cups at 85+, farmers are paid the 85+ price.
- Each community lot is categorized by flavor profile and score to simplify recurring needs
- Every unique lot is traceable back to a specific association or cooperative.
The foundation of this system is trust—built through honest feedback, shared knowledge, and equitable payment.
Producer Association: Siceet
Siceet is an Indigenous coffee growers’ association rooted in the Nasa territory of Toribío, Cauca. Formed by 218 smallholder producers, the association reflects a deep commitment to both specialty quality and cultural identity.
For these producers, coffee is more than a livelihood—it’s an expression of heritage and stewardship of Mother Nature. High-elevation growing conditions (1730–2060 masl) contribute to dense, complex beans, while washed processing highlights clarity and structure in the cup.
In the Cup
Expect a clean, structured profile with:
Honey sweetness
Bright orange citrus
Soft vanilla finish
The washed process amplifies clarity and balance, letting the citrus sparkle while the honeyed sweetness rounds out the finish.
